Long acting reversible methods of contraception (LARC)

What is LARC? Long-acting reversible contraception is contraception that doesn’t depend on you remembering to take or use it to be effective.

It’s highly effective at preventing pregnancy. If you are considering being on contraception for a while, it is advisable to go on a LARC.

What are the different types of LARCs available?

The four main types of LARCs available in the UK are:

  • Contraceptive Implant
  • Intrauterine Device (IUD)
  • Intrauterine System (IUS)
  • Contraceptive Injection
