Our bodies, and sometimes our plans, are at the mercy of a clock that we can’t change, or sometimes, even predict. Whether it’s a holiday, a wedding or a big race or gym challenge, having our period can alter the way we approach life’s big events - and it's unfair.
That’s why we’re saying a big “Hello” to period delay tablets.
Surprisingly, not many people know about this little period secret. Half of our menstruating brand team were completely unaware of this product! So, we’ve decided to do some research and ask our clinical team some of the essential questions so that you don’t have to.
Period delay tablets give women the flexibility to effectively delay their next period.
Most tablets, like the brands we stock, contain the synthetic hormone Norethisterone. This hormone works by temporarily altering the progesterone balance in your body and postponing your menstrual cycle and the shedding of your womb lining.
We offer the tablets on 7, 17 or 27 day courses and once you stop taking the tablets, your progesterone levels will return to normal. Your next period will usually start within 2-3 days.
Yes, but we can sort this for you.
We have an online consultation form that you can complete (for free) to check if you’re suitable for this option. It takes only a few minutes to complete and gives us the information we need to prescribe and sell this product to you
Most menstruating women, above the age of 18, can use this product.
However, period delay tablets may not be suitable for everyone, for example if you have breast cancer or a history of blood clots. Please answer your consultation accurately so that we can evaluate your suitability. And if you have any doubts or questions, please email support@helloeve.co.uk.
No, you can't use this product alongside your oral or injectable contraception. Please also note that although these tablets may delay your period, they are NOT a contraception option.
If you plan to have sex while using period delay tablets, be safe and use protection if you’re not trying for a baby. Consider another contraception method, such as condoms, to avoid any unwanted pregnancies and/or STIs.
If you’re already taking the oral contraception pill and want to avoid your period, it is worth knowing that the 7-day pill break is optional. You can learn more about this here and use this method to control when, or if, you get a withdrawal bleed.
This product is generally well received, yet some individuals may experience the following side effects:
Like any other medicine, the side effects will vary from person to person. Period delay tablets are a short-term option to delay your period and are different from longer term period blocker options.
